Hitchrider Long Haul Bike Rack

This rack is especially suitable for long recumbents and tandems. The main cross bar telescopes in for shorter bikes. The bar can be moved to the left or to the right. The hold-down clamp can also be moved along the bar. The front wheel support can be angled back to narrow the width of a large wheeled tandem. The small wheels on our BikeFriday tandem extend past the Rialta's sides by about an inch. The rack folds back by removing a pin and releasing a lever. This feature may be of use in reaching into the trunk. I ordered a high and extended drawbar which prevents the trunk door from opening all the way with the rack in the normal position. I cut the toe out of an old running shoe and laced it to the rack where the door would make contact. This drawbar does give plenty of clearance when entering or leaving our driveway. we find the long bike easy to load and unload. The rack was ordered from Hitchrider.com.
