Fort Bragg - Bodega Bayu Aug 2012
We drove from our home in Morgan Hill to Fort Bragg's Pomo camp ground to camp with friends and family for four nights. The site was good. We walked across the road to visit the Botanical gardens. I expected it would take half an hour but we were there almost 4 hours wandering the paths and trails, viewing the works of many artist, listening to musicians on several stages and eating. One artist did a watercolor painting of me while I sat at a table, unaware of his presence. We rode or tandem into town, down to the harbor, and north along the abandoned road along the water's edge.
We left Fort Bragg Monday, a week ago and came down scenic Highway 1. We stopped along the way to take pictures and enjoy the breath taking views.
We next stayed 3 nights at the Cassini Ranch on the Russian River, about 5 miles upstream from the coast. We rode the bike to Occidental and Jenner for lunches. A couple, Howard and his wife, parked a Rialta 2 spots away from us. It was originally from Colorado but they recently bought it in San Diego. We told them about the Rialta Yahoo groups.
Our last stop was at the Porto Bodega Bay campground where we stayed with a group of IBM retirees , members of our bicycle club, and Fred Wittenberg with his Rialta. Fred and I had made contact over the rialta group list. He gave us some good tips. We enjoyed shared dinners in the club meeting room and a nearby restaurant. Bodega also has a little restaurant famous for crab sandwiches. Saturday was our last night. The ocean air was cold and damp. We sat around a campfire telling old stories and making plans for other places to travel.
It was fun,
